David Bloor

I’m David Bloor, a photographer driven by curiosity, creativity, and a love for visual storytelling. Photography has been part of my life for as long as I can remember — I’ve always been drawn to observing the world through a lens, experimenting with ideas, and turning thoughts into images.

I studied Photography at college before completing a BA (Hons) degree, where I developed both my technical skills and creative voice. During that time I began shaping my own photographic identity and exploring the balance between practical image-making and the theory behind it. I’m particularly interested in how photography communicates meaning — especially themes of identity, narrative, and self-expression — and this continues to influence both my creative work and teaching.

Alongside my photographic practice, I’m currently training as a teacher on the PGCE Post-Compulsory Education and Training programme. Supporting others in building confidence, exploring ideas, and finding their visual voice has become a meaningful part of my journey.

I enjoy pushing myself beyond familiar approaches, experimenting with new techniques, and letting curiosity guide creative decisions. Photography, for me, is not just about capturing moments — it’s about understanding them, questioning them, and shaping them into something expressive and personal.
